Tompkins Hall is all about moving Charlotte’s food, trade, and culture forward. With a name that recalls the beginnings of the Industrial South, and a space dedicated to innovation, sustainability, experimentation and urban renewal, we’re reminding Charlotte of who we are and who we’ll become.
Charlotte was once the bedrock of the Industrial South. It all started with a series of textile mills, many of which were built by one man: D.A. Tompkins. Tompkins Hall pays tribute to the man by embodying his ideals. In an area where Charlotte’s mills once turned over a new leaf for the for the city, today Tompkins Hall shows a new side of Charlotte to the outside. It’s not just a theater of cuisine and creativity; it’s a bastion of innovation, sustainability, and urban renewal.
Located in the Optimist Park neighborhood between Uptown Charlotte and NoDa, the redevelopment will transform a turn-of-the-century textile mill into a food hall complemented by restaurants, retail and creative office space. Upon completion, the newly christened Tompkins Hall will include original hardwood floors, soaring 14+ foot ceilings as well as board and beam interiors with a true industrial character. Included in the Hall is office space, restaurants/retail, and a food hall.
