The brief for this project started when the client made the decision to stay and upgrade their existing office – a commitment to their aim to be a leading firm in the Midlands.
The brief was to significantly improve the staff and client experience and introduce the New Ways of Working programme. This meant providing formal and informal work settings to suit an agile working environment while reducing the footprint and increasing utilisation of space across the floor plate. As such, we developed a range of options for partner ways of working with the local steering group deciding to create ‘Partner Neighbourhoods’ within the wider team neighbourhoods. This allowed partners to remain open and accessible to staff as they had already been working but maintained an identifiable area where they were based. It also meant that the types of spaces and work settings that partners used frequently could be located adjacent to their workspace.
A framework has been established Firmwide to minimise the client’s impact to the environment, while simultaneously delivering exceptional service. The fit out secured a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and enabled the team and people to operate in a more sustainable manner, clearly explaining the firm’s Green Journey throughout, so everyone is empowered to make sustainable decisions.
A real sense of community has been built, creating a workplace where community staff are proud of the environment, feel healthier and enjoy their workplace more.
