Generation Park Master Plan + Guidelines
Generation Park is a new mixed-use, master-planned corporate development located in Houston, Texas. This project balances high performance design and community values in the world’s first ESE energy development. More than 30 million square feet will be developed in Generation Park, creating an entirely new business destination for innovators in the energy industry.
Perkins+Will challenged the conventional idea what a “business park” can be by proposing a campus with higher level of integration in program and public spaces. Just as Silicon Valley has become the center of high tech innovation, with a rich vertical supply chain to support its industry, the mix of companies and organizations at Generation Park will become a magnet for the vertical services and markets specific to the energy industry. This master plan, featuring walkable urban nodes, green amenities, balanced with R&D facilities and office clusters will facilitate physical interaction, collaboration and a shared sense of purpose.
The plan creates a people-oriented master plan that incorporates lakes, walking paths, bicycle paths, rich forests, and generous setbacks. These qualities were refined into implementable guidelines. The commercial guidelines create a platform for ensuring the long term growth and development of the park, describing development at each scale, from district to building.
