Project Info
Fire Station 27
Dallas, Texas
Completion Date: 2015
Square Footage: 23,000
LEED Gold Certified

This new 23,000 square foot facility for fifteen fire personnel per shift, will represent the most advanced design of all of the City of Dallas’ new fire stations. A vertical solution was developed as a response to an urban site that was too small to accommodate the program and required parking.

There is a secure parking garage for eighteen personnel vehicles below grade. The main living areas and the pull through apparatus bays are at ground level, and there are isolated sleeping quarters on the second level. An innovative fitness room solution was developed over the apparatus bays. The design and the finishes were carefully considered for comfort and long term durability.

The fire station is LEED Gold certified, employing sustainable design strategies such as solar panels, a storm water collection cistern, high performance glazing, lighting and HVAC system. In addition, we used landscaping that requires minimal irrigation and is native to the region.
