The N.C. Biotechnology Center is unveiling its new $10.1 million, 20,000-square-foot addition today with an event honoring former Gov. Jim Hunt.
North Carolina is now the third-largest state in the country for biotech, with 57,000 people in 530 companies around the state. Including ripple effects, the industry contributes $64.6 billion to the state's economy and supports more than 226,000 jobs.
The Hunt Annex will provide much-needed space for the growing Biotech Center and concentrate the center's workers in the growing agricultural-biotech space.
