As Managing Director of the Minneapolis office, Tony is responsible for guiding the office’s culture and work product, ensuring that both embody the firm’s values and commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and design excellence.
Tony joined Perkins+Will in 2000. Prior to his role as Managing Director, Tony has demonstrated leadership through his advancements in sustainable design. Tony was co-director of Perkins+Will’s Sustainable Design Initiative (SDI) working to embed sustainable policy and expertise throughout the firm to elevate performance of all our projects. He is also a founding member of the Innovation Incubator Initiative, a program designed to encourage the exploration of new ideas in design and architecture. He was a graduate of the first Perkins+Will Leadership Institute, has received the AIA Minnesota Young Architect Award, and was named one of Building Design + Construction's 40 Under 40 Superstars for 2011.
Tony has led the design of a variety of projects with a focus on sustainable high-performance, including many LEED-certified projects. He has focused most recently on delivering corporate campus and workplace design for Fortune 500 companies, as well as strategic building repositioning projects locally and nationally. His design leadership, sustainable expertise, and passion for our collective future make him an influential advocate at the intersection of sustainability and design in our practice and the profession for both the Minneapolis office and across the firm.
Outside of the firm, Tony has shown a strong commitment to industry advancement. He has taught graduate and undergraduate design courses at the University of Minnesota and Oklahoma State University, and frequently presents on sustainable design and research at conferences around the country including the Architectural Research Centers Consortium International Conference.
