In conjunction with T.Y. Lin Engineering, we designed a modern transit hub for the City of Chongquin in China. Based on the Fuling Sustainable Development Strategy, the Fuling Mountain Bay Transfer Hub was designed to meet the growing traffic of the Fuling district and to improve urban transit in the area.
To order to fit the context of the site, the design is iconic and ecofriendly, taking advantage of Fuling’s undulating terrain. With passengers averaging 15,500 per day, the Transfer Hub eases long-haul passenger distribution and accommodates local public transportation and vehicle rentals, as well as transfer loads of long-distance transit from other cities. The Transfer Hub was also designed to accommodate future plans for light rail system at the north side of the site. Striving to achieve “zero transfer” and the seamless convergence of the various modes of transportation, the Transfer Hub will alleviate the traffic pressure of the city centre, improve the urban traffic environment, and improve the efficiency of public travel.
